Roof Construction - Day 5

Well, the first of the shingles have been laid!! This first pictures kind of show the color. It's called Black Walnut and it's mostly black with a bit of dark, dark brown mixed through it. I didn't know what the color was going to look like for sure, Bump picked it out while trying to explain the colors to me over the phone. I am really happy with the color. The poor roofers have had to deal with hornets galore! They took out 5 very large hornets nests out of the inside of our roof and the hornets haven't liked them since. They were really swarming them today.
The way the light hits on these bottom pictures it makes the roof look more brown - it isn't, it's just the light. They got most of the east side shingled today.
