Gabby's 6th grade fun

In 6th grade there is a police man who is the D.A.R.E. officer that comes and talks to the kids about not doing drugs, showing courtesy and respect to others, being a good community member, etc.  At the end of the year they had a D.A.R.E. graduation and they got a t-shirt and a trip to Lagoon.  Here is Gabby's D.A.R.E. graduation celebration.

When Gabby had her birthday/Jr. High check up at the pediatrician's office the doctor told us to get her kidney checked again since it had been awhile.  So, Gabby go to go to Primary Children's Medical Center and get an ultrasound on her kidney and some blood work done.  She was a champ and I'm glad to say that her one kidney is working beautifully and she is one healthy girl!

 For Gabby's 6th grade World's Fair she chose to do her report on Poland.  She had to dress up like a famous person from her country so she dressed as Marie Curie (everyone thinks she's french - nope!)

 Then they had a wax museum where people could go through and learn about all of the famous people from around the world.  This is Gabby and her friend Isabell Armstrong who was a famous Canadian (can't remember who, but it was something to do with women's rights).

Her poster board. Notice the letters in Poland?  They are symbolic of the country (I like the Polish sausages for the D.)  Tera sent her some money from Poland for her to display and the Blackhams have some nice Polish pottery that we used.

 One fun thing about being in 6th grade is that you turn 12 and get to start going to Young Women's at church.  Gabby has started right in on some of her Value Projects.  Here she is helping to prepare Grandma and Grandpa Williams garden for planting.  She is planting, caring for, and harvesting their garden for her Faith Value Project this summer!

For another project and part of Quincy's birthday present Gabby is helping to organize some things in our house (to get ready to move this summer) and she made an earring organizer for all of Quincy's earrings.  She found a frame at DI, spray painted it a color that Quincy loves, found a lace jacket at DI and cut it up then stapled it to the frame.

The part that took the longest was trying to actually organize all of Quincy's earrings!  This isn't even 1/4 of all of them!  What a great project!  It turned out really cute!

The end of 6th grade comes with 6th grade graduation.  Here is Gabby at the end of her class line waiting to get her awards.

 I have to list all of her accomplishments and awards here because it was amazing how many things she was given.  She really worked hard this year and had a lot of fun!

Her certificate of completion for 6th grade, Excellent Attendance Award, Great Citizenship Award, Outstanding Achievement in Classroom Behavior, Keyboarding Award (36 wpm at 96%), Outstanding Achievement in Writing, and the Fastest Girl Mile - 6th grade.  She also won the Battle of the Books with her team 1st and 2nd semester, and for reading the most books.

 Here is Gabby with her cousins that she graduated with.  What a fun thing for these girls to be together for 6th grade!
