This past Saturday the Tooele County Health Department had an Emergency Response Drill to simulate how medications could be distributed to the population of Tooele County in the event of an emergency. The exercise is part of the Cities Readiness Initiative — a federal program that involves creating a plan to get medication out to the population of Tooele County in 48 hours or less. Click to read the newspaper article here.To be involved in this drill we had to take a piece of paper that came in the newspaper and put the names and ages of each person in the car and then go to the local Heritage West Credit Union drive thru. We turned in our piece of paper and they gave each of us a gold $1 coin.
The kids thought it was really exciting and it didn't take long at all and we each got a dollar for participating! Hopefully if we really did need some emergency meds it would go that smoothly!
