11th Anniversary

Since Friday was our 11th Anniversary I decided to reminisce a little bit about our wedding.

Bump finally proposed to me when he had been home from his mission for 5 days (on Christmas Day - what a great Christmas present, huh?), I had been home from my mission for about a month an a half. We set the wedding date for 6 weeks later, on February 6th 1998. Quick huh? But you've got to remember that we had dated since high school and had known that we would get married after our missions, so quick was good!

This was one of our many engagement pictures taken - we look like teenagers. Our photographer was very taken with Bump, I think he was much more interested in making Bump look good then me! It was pretty funny! He did a great job though, on both our engagement pictures and our wedding pics.

Here is our wedding announcement and the picture went inside. I wanted things simple and this was about as simple as you could get then.
Some of our wedding pictures. A funny story about our wedding that is still completely embarrassing. . . I had been on my mission for 18 months and it was winter time, I was a bit worried about my pasty white skin and wanted at least a little bit of color. My mom had a small tanning lamp that was made just to give your face a bit of color. So, about 2 days before the wedding I decided to use it. I didn't think I sat there for too long but after I put it away and then got a few other things accomplished I looked in the mirror and I had a complete red stripe down my face and neck! How it happened like that is still a mystery to me, I thought I was so careful in the position I was in, but oh I was horrified!!
My family dinner the night before shows how really red I was, but by the time we got married it had calmed a little bit. You can see how red my neck is in the above picture. Most people just thought it was from the cold outside or maybe I was just the "blushing bride." Make-up helped a ton on my face, but overall it was an incredibly stupid thing to do and I shed a lot of tears over it on the day before my wedding!! Duh!!
I just had to show a picture of my wedding cake. We wanted so badly to have a reception outside, but being February in Utah it wasn't a very likely option for us. So, we decided to bring the outside in and made the cultural hall outdoorsy with lots of trees, fountains and outdoor benches around the room. Since Bump was really into fishing he brought up the fact that he would love to incorporate fish somehow. You should have seen the look on the cake lady's face when we told her what we wanted. But she did it and it turned out to be an absolutely beautiful cake - yes those are goldfish swimming in the middle of the cake. We also incorporated goldfish swimming in bowls in the middle of each table decoration. It was definitely a reception with Bump's stamp of approval!

It's been an amazing 11 years being married to my very best friend! We have a wonderful life and I couldn't ask for more (well, maybe many, many more years just like we've had)!

Erin, I remember your mom was in Lovell shortly before your wedding. We searched all over northern Wyoming for Swedish Fish. We couldn't find them. (Gotta love rural Wyo.) So we settled for Gold Fish Crackers. We then spent a couple of hours at the candy factrory with the dipping ladies dipping gold fish in chocolate for your reception. What a fun memory!!

I remembler your reception with pine trees and fishing poles. So cute. You look like wee babes in your photos.
