Yesterday was sweet Gabby's 6th birthday. On Friday she took some treats to school and got this rockin' birthday hat that she sported all day Saturday too.
We let Gabby have a friend party and she invited boys and girls. The theme for her party was color and art. When everyone got to the house we began by splitting into 2 groups. I played color bingo with my group and Bump gave his group each a container of play dough and had them make birthday play dough sculptures. While that was going on, our niece Cassidy (that has been down at BYU this last year) took each of them one at a time and painted their faces. The girls mostly wanted butterflies and flowers and the boys had BYU and soccer balls. After each group played both bingo and did sculptures then we headed outside where each of them did a chalk mural on our front walkway. They had a lot of fun.
Then we headed back inside and opened presents. Gabby got a lot of fun things. She got arts and crafts things, make up, littlest pet shop toys, a few Webkins stuffed animals and a barbie fairy. She was absolutely thrilled with each gift.
After presents we headed into the kitchen for rainbow cupcakes. I had a lot of fun making them. Gabby didn't want frosting, so we gave each kid a cupcake and then let them have some Redi-whip spray on top and decorate it with M&M's. They thought that was pretty fun and a few of them even got some squirted into their mouths.
After cupcakes we headed out front (thank goodness for such perfect weather, especially after a rainy week) and played Colored Eggs. It's a game that my brothers and sisters played for hours on end growing up and I was excited to teach these kids. I was actually quite surprised when one of the little boys, Parker, knew the game already. I started out being the big bad wolf and each kid had to pick a color of egg to be. Then when I called out their color they had to run while I chased them. If I caught them then they were the wolf. Well, those kids are pretty dang fast and I finally had to have Bump cheat and grab one of them so I didn't have to be "it" forever. I was really trying too!
The kids played that for a long time until their parents came to pick them up. We sent them home with a little gift bag that contained colorful things: gum, bubbles, a pin wheel, punch balloon, crayons and their play dough. I think everyone had a good time and it went by really fast, which I guess was a good thing. :)

We saved Gabby's cake for last night when we met with the Williams family for a combined birthday party for Gabby and my nephew, Keaton. It looked just like the above cupcakes inside the cake and on the outside I decorated it with Skittles. Gabby was super excited that she got two birthday parties on one day and boy was she excited with her fun presents! She has been asking for a hamster and since I don't want to get a real one we bought her some Zhu zhu pets (fake hamsters). She also got a few accessories to go along with them, a new CD player (to listen to books at night) and some bubbles and money. What a lucky girl!!
