While cleaning my house today I started thinking about how much I love my kitchen and dining room floors. So many days I am just picking up all day after kids and cleaning up after snacks and meals and I have to really plan ahead to "deep clean" my house. Today I decided that I really needed to mop the dining room and kitchen. It has honestly been a few weeks since I mopped - I am sure that all of you super neat people are audibly gasping right now, but my awesome floors don't show the dirt and grime and that is why I love them!!
After having tile in some houses in the past I swore that I would never have tile floors. It's because of the the grout and how hard it is to clean. Well I'm not saying that it is any easier to clean, but because the previous owners used a really dark brown grout it doesn't show the dirt as well as lighter grout does. So I actually like my tile floors and really wouldn't change them!
So, between the dog (who is the greatest at cleaning up food messes that all 3 of my kids create daily) and a quick sweep once in awhile I have it made as far as my floors at least looking good every day!! The above picture was taken before I even touched the floors today - yes there is actually dirt on those floors. I was going to post an "after" moping picture, but when I took the picture it looked like I was just posting the same picture, so I just left it off.
In reading back over this post I sound like I don't keep a very clean house, when in reality I feel like I do a darn good job considering my 3 little Tasmanian Devils that live here. But in contrast to my tile floors I do have some dark wood floors in the living room and parlor that show every particle of dust and they get swept and/or Swiffered every other day or so. You can see every spot that I miss on those floors.
Anyway, I love my tile floors and would recommend them to anyone. Especially those with small children and pets in the winter!!! Anything to make life a little easier, right?!!

Erin I absolutely love your house. It is such a fun home. INCLUDING your kitchen tile!! Isn't it great to be surrounded by material things we like?
A good floor is so important! I am glad you are so happy with yours.
Uh Erie, I mop my floors every couple of months (should I be admitting that). I clean up spills daily, and sweep daily. But when I take the two hours to get my floor spotless it only lasts 10 minutes (unless I do it at 11pm then it lasts 9 hours:), which is why that's when I usually do it)
I wish I had a dog to clean up everything my kids drop. I love your house, you guys have done such a great job!
I hate to mop my floors! I sweep and swiffer it every so often but to actually scrub-well not so much. My sis in law said it's one thing she loves about my tile-"you can't see the dirt, you can just feel it!" (thanks)
I did for the first time ever get on hands and knees with a scrub brush and spent an hour and a half scrubbing grout and tile. Now I wish I had hardwood!!:)
