Our Fence is going in

About 7:30 this morning I got a knock on the door from the fence guys asking me to walk out where I wanted the fence to go. I told them where we wanted everything to go and then they got to work measuring out where posts would go and pulling strings for straight lines, etc. Then they started hand digging all of our fence holes - over 40 of them! After watching them work, I am so glad that we aren't trying to do this job ourselves! We will have a 3 foot picket all around the front yard and a 6 foot privacy fence in the back yard. We are so excited!!

This is the pile of fencing that was on our lawn last night

Back yard yesterday getting it ready for the fence

I left for a few hours this afternoon to run some errands and when I got home this is what it looked like! These guys are quick! All the posts are in and set and tomorrow they will work on putting the rest of the fence together!
We had to go back a bit from the sidewalk here because of the stupid road sign. I plan to put flowers all along here instead of dealing with grass and having to line trim all the time. Our poor lawn is seeing the effects of neglect from all the construction that we have been doing, but it will come back to life and look beautiful again, especially with the new fence to frame it!

Dad's Day with the Kids

Bump was so sweet and took Friday off of work and took complete charge of the kids for 2 days while I had a girls weekend with 2 of my sisters. I spent the day on Friday with Tera shopping and getting some waxing done at the aesthetics school. Then Saturday Tracy joined us and we shopped at Tai Pan and Ikea and had manicures and pedicures - it was nice. We were supposed to all be together in Nauvoo for our girls weekend that would include Jamie and my mom, but couldn't make it work. So, we missed our other 2 "girls," but had a nice time with each other anyway.

On Saturday Bump took the kids on a whirlwind tour of festivities around town. He started off visiting his parents, who haven't been feeling very well. Then he took the kids to see the fish and animals at Cabella's. He let the kids play at the shooting gallery where they thought they were shooting all kinds of things because of all the other people shooting around them, but Bump never even put a quarter in.From there they went to Gateway to the Children's Museum. The kids all had a blast and I am really impressed at how well Bump kept track of all 3 kids when they wanted to go in 3 different directions. They had so much fun! After the museum they headed outside to run around in the fountain and get soaked. Bump said that they weren't sure what to think of it at first, but then they had a blast with it. When they were finished at the fountain he took them to dinner at McDonald's where they played even more in the play place inside.Needless to say, they slept well that night (especially Bump) and the kids kept talking about how much fun they had with their dad. I think it was a good weekend for everyone! Thank you, Bump!

Roof Construction - The Finale

To all of you faithful readers that have been watching the progress of my roof with baited breath - it is finally complete!! Yeeee Haw (as they say in Grantsville)!! Here are pictures of the final day of work and some before and after pictures.

Here are the nicest guys - tough on the outside, but really great and friendly! Steve and Lon, brothers who have been in the roofing business for 30 years + and have done an excellent job. It's hot and hard work and we really appreciate all of the work that just these two guys accomplished.

This is earlier in the day when they were completing the last on the shingles on the front porch.

Here are some BEFORE pictures of the house. I know they look so cute with the flags, but I had to take them down while the dirty work was being done, so pay no attention to the flags, just the roof.

Here are the finished pictures of our roof. It really makes where wood shingles need to be repainted stand out, but we have needed to do that for awhile so maybe this will help get it accomplished quicker.
You'll notice that we asked for white edging, we are planning on painting all the trim white and eventually the house another color. The roof color actually makes the black trim make more sense, for now.
It looks really nice and I love the way it grounds the house and once we finish everything we need to do it really will help clean up the whole look of it.

Roof Construction - Day 6

This is tough to get a good angle on this part of the roof, so there aren't many pictures. Yesterday they finished all the demo and finished putting plywood and tar paper up on everything that needs it still. I think that today they will probably finish!! We'll see. . .

Memory Lane

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.
