Hike to Willow Lake

One Saturday we decided to take the kids on a hike up in the mountains above our house.  We took a backpack full of snacks and water and decided to just see how far the kids could go.  Well, they ended up having a great time and didn't want to stop.  So, we decided to try to get to Willow Lake.  It was a tough hike for these guys, but they made it just fine.  And the scenery we were seeing during the hike was awesome!

We got to the lake and just as we started to play in the water and rest from the long hike it started raining.  It felt good at first because we were hot and tired, but then the wind really picked up and not only did it start to rain harder, but there was lightning and thunder too!  We realized that we needed to get off that mountain, but the kids were now wet and very cold.  We all said prayers that we could just make it off the mountain safe.

We just forced the kids to keep on walking.  Soon the rain stopped and the sun came out and began to warm everyone up again.  The hike down went much more quickly than the hike up and we only had to carry Quincy a little bit while she was cold.  Overall the kids thought it was a great day and want to do it again.  I learned my lesson about being more prepared even when going on a relatively short hike!

Some of those landscapes are pretty enough to hang on your wall. What a beautiful hike! The photo with you and Quincy in the center with the amazing mountains in the background is my favorite!
