Birthday Earrings

Since Gabby's birthday is on Easter Sunday this year we decided to spread things out over a few days. She asked if she could get a hair cut again, at the salon, and if she could get her ears pierced. The week leading up to her birthday was Spring Break at school and my parents were in town visiting, so we had a lot of fun and a lot more freedom to do fun things. She got her hair cut on Tuesday at the salon. We had to run a few errands on Thursday and so we decided that since we were in Salt Lake already that we would go ahead and get her ears pierced while we were there.

She did so great! We went to Claire's at the Gateway Center downtown. And there was a pretty bad storm coming in and we were pretty windblown by the time we got there. It was really fun to have Grandma Wright with us (they were vising for a few days).

Here is Gabby, all smiles, after she picked out her earrings and was waiting for everything to happen. It's funny to watch her faces change as things progress.
Cleaning her ears and her nerves are starting to show.
Thinking that something is happening even though it's just the dots to make sure both earrings are aligned.

Here comes the gun.
First ear.
Brave smile for her dad while getting the second ear done.
Looking at herself in the mirror and glad it's over.
Then she got a bit teary as it started to sting a little and her nerves all caught up with her.
All-in-all she was such a trooper and was so excited to finally have her ears pierced. She didn't care about anything else for her birthday and she was so proud of herself for being so brave. She couldn't wait to show her cousins and friends on her actual birthday.
