Last weekend we went with my brother, Jared and his wife, Casi and their two girls up to Casi's parents' cabin in the Uinta Mountains. We had planned on taking some of their snow mobiles, but things didn't work out with the trailer and so we just went without. We got up their really late on Friday night, after midnight, and were just ready to put the kids to bed and get some sleep. Well, normally with the snow mobiles you can get everything into the cabin quickly and it's really slick. Let's just say that this trip it wasn't so slick, in fact Casi was ready to turn right around and head back down the mountain right after we got there.
To say that there was a lot of snow is quite an under-statement. I stayed in the car with the kids while Jared, Bump and Casi took the first trip into the cabin carrying arm loads of supplies. At one point Casi stepped off a little hill of snow and went all the way into her arm pits. The three of them had to cut a path through snow up to their waists and it was bitter cold and very dark! I can't believe that they did it! Then Bump and Jared came back for more supplies and kids to carry and I followed behind carrying a few things myself! It was a pretty tough hike to the cabin, but it was nice a warm when we go there and we had such a fun and relaxing time over night.
The next day the kids played out in the snow and we relaxed and watched movies and had just a great time! I don't think those guys will go back up again without the sleds after the experience that we had, but it was still really fun for us! Thanks Jared and Casi for taking us!

Two words: Snow shoes.
Next time you go, borrow Erick's snow shoes. It will keep you from sinking to your armpits. Sorry Casi!
Wow, we went to our property on Friday night. We spent the night in a hotel in Evanston and came home Saturday morning. The roads were crazy up there!
