TAGGED

Okay, so I had a hard time trying to come up with 7 interesting things about myself. I asked Bump to help me to think of some interesting things to write about myself and he pretty much came up with all of them. So, Thank You Bump for all of your help and here goes. . .

1. I don’t think that Mom and Dad have a clue about this one. Casi talked in her blog about being “painfully shy.” Well, I was very painfully just the opposite. When I was in high school I never had a problem saying no to a kiss. We’re not talking hot and passionate stuff, but just little pecks on the lips maybe to replace a hug that people would normally give. It’s not like I kissed half of the male population at Woods Cross High School (that is what Bump said to write), but I did kiss a fair number of boys, sometimes as a dare, other times because I wanted to. It became a joke between the Student Body President, my friend, Brandon Blaser and me all during my senior year of high school. He used to call me “The Wife of Bath,” and if any of you have read the Canterbury Tales you’ll know what a mean thing that was to say. Anyway, he got the word around the high school and when it came time to vote for Senior Awards I was voted “Best Kisser.” I like to think that I really was the best kisser, not that I kissed the most people like Brandon meant it to be. Lucky for Bump he was one of those lucky boys that I kissed in high school and now he is the only boy I kiss (besides Corban).

2. Most of you know that I love to sing. It is a passion of mine that I have had from very early in my childhood. I used to record myself singing onto cassette tapes and listen to them and critique myself. I miss the old choir days in high school and college when we got to sing beautiful pieces and have them sound really good. Now that I have reached almost 33 years old and have been away from choir for quite awhile I have started singing with our ward choir. Not only am I singing with our ward choir, but I look forward to Sundays after church when I can sit and practice with them. When a ward choir starts looking good, you know that you just have to sing because it is in your soul.

3. I really feel that in my previous life I was a carpenter. I love wood! I love building things when I get the chance and know how. I love to go to houses that are being built and watch to see what the guys are doing and try to learn things. I love power tools and would be thrilled if Bump would buy me a great table saw for Christmas some day. One of my favorite shows to watch is “This Old House” and “The New Yankee Workshop.” Those guys are amazing and I learn so much from watching them! I would love to build a beautiful antique replica desk or table someday, but it’s all about the tools isn’t it? And therefore it’s all about the $$.

4. I can kick most guy’s butts in certain video games! Yes, I am a video game queen. I have my own gamer tag for the Xbox 360, “Madam Queen.” It’s incredibly cheesy, but it’s what Bump’s uncles used to call their mom or something like that and it wasn’t taken when I signed up. I can hold my own in Halo 3, and Bump is always proud to show me off to friends when we are online. He is not ashamed to let people know that I am his wife and that says a lot in the predominantly male world of online gaming.

5. Most women complain about being cold while their husbands are toasty warm. You always hear comics talk about their wife’s cold feet in bed and how they always have the heat cranked in the car or house. Well Bump and I are just the opposite! I am always really warm. In fact, Bump calls me his heater. I usually sleep in just a sheet; maybe a light blanket. I would absolutely die if I had an electric blanket on me! Bump on the other hand sleeps with at least 3 extra blankets at all times and he is the one who puts his cold feet on me in bed. Not that I mind, his cold feet usually feel really good to me. Let’s just say that I am a
“Hotta Mamma,” and leave it at that.

6. Many of you know that Bump was a professional fly fishing instructor, but I don’t know if you all know that I was one also. Any time groups would come into the resort in Vermont and would want to learn to fly fish I would go and help teach. I love to fish and loved to help to teach people to cast, but I always would secretly pray that nobody would catch a fish when I was on duty. See, one of the jobs of the instructor is to net the fish and take the fly out of the fish’s mouth for the guest. It is a hard thing for me to admit, especially after years and years of fishing with my dad and my husband, but I HATE to hold fish! I can’t even hold one long enough for a good picture! Well, unless it’s a bass. I discovered that large mouth bass hold really still once you hook their jaw and they just hang there almost like they are posing for the picture for you. Trout, which are the most wonderful fish ever to catch according to my husband, are really wiggly and slimy and DO NOT want to have their pictures taken even when they are exhausted and almost dead. So, yes I have taught many people how to cast beautifully, but I became really good at making sure that Bump was around when a fish was actually caught. I have a love/hate relationship with trout.

7. Along with singing I love the theater! Embarrassing as it is, I miss the easy opportunities that I had to be in great performances in high school and college. It was really fun to be performing again last year in the musical version of a Christmas Carol and I know that some day I will try out for more things and get involved in community theater more. But for now I just go to the shows and wonder how I would do in certain rolls. Could I sing better than that character? Would I have played that roll easier than the person performing it? I think that I am very critical of how a person performs. I REALLY enjoy a good performance. But I feel like getting up and walking out of a bad show rather than sitting through it painfully wondering when the next mishap will happen. A bad performance is embarrassing to me. Am I the most wonderful actress?? No way, but a part of me will always love being on stage. There is an energy and a high you get when you perform well and get that great connection with the audience. It’s addicting.

Okay, so there is my response to Casi’s tag. I tag Mom, Julie, Steph and Kristi. Have fun, the rules are post seven interesting things about you on your blog, tag more people and let those who you tagged know by commenting on their blog. You are supposed to tag 7 people, but I don’t know 7 people that haven’t already been tagged, so I am putting only 4. I hope this is easier for you than it was for me.

Isn't it funny how so many jokes are based on truth? Kinda like Erin joking about kissing half the male population in highschool...
At first I thought she was bragging, however I've met a lot of those men she kissed and trust me there's nothing to brag about (no offense Brayden)...
