Home Decorating Pictures

If you are tired of hearing about our house then stop reading now and move on to another blog! We have been accomplishing lots of little things lately, things are hung on the walls and furniture is in place in most rooms, it's exciting!

I promised to show some pictures of some things that we have done, so here goes:

Susan Blackham gave us their old basement door that we couldn't use, but we did use the window out of their door and put it in our front door. I need to show this during the day so you can see how much brighter it is in our entry way now. Tracy came over today to help me cut the hole in the door and put the window in to surprise Bump. It really surprised him and he was so glad not to have to do the work himself!

We are also storing some of Tera's furniture until they get back into a house where they have room for it. This entry table is one that Erick's grandpa made and the little chair is a cute accessory. Thank you Blackham's for helping to decorate our house!!

Another thing that Susan gave us is this old chandelier that we spray painted and it looks just perfect in our entry way. Doesn't this just make you want to come and visit??

I still have not decided what to do about the tile, but this is to show our new electric fireplace insert, our new fire screen and the lovely mirror that Ron and Gloria are not able to use in their living room, thank goodness because it looks awesome in my parlor!! The whole fireplace is a work in progress still, but the mirror is so awesome!! The rug is something I am storing for Tera, again and also the buffet and cute chairs for extra seating! Love it!!

I am showing this picture for the awesome story that goes along with this rug. Tera called me from the DI in Logan last week and said that they were selling a woven rug for $25.00 and asked if she wanted me to get it. I said of course, you can't beat a $25.00 rug no matter what the condition, right? She couldn't tell what it looked like, or how big it really was, but it was for sure a big one, so she got it. Anyway, she brought it down last weekend and we were both shocked to see that it was in such good condition that it looks brand new! Seriously it is amazing and it looks so good in my living room! We were also surprised that it was round, you just assume that it will be oval but it works really great in our living room! Again, thanks to Tera my house is looking awesome (just don't pay any attention to Bump's bowl of ice cream on the table!)

Now it's time to finish our base boards, and many, many more home improvement projects!! Does it ever stop? How boring would that be if it did?

Gabby turns 4

Thursday was Gabby's 4th Birthday and she was thrilled to be able to open presents - finally! She has been asking every day for the past month when her birthday is and telling me every day what she wants for her special day of gifts!

I think she did really well and got plenty of Mariposas and fairy princesses! We just had a small family party and Jared and Casi came and brought Mallory and Lily to help celebrate! It was a fun day for her!

The Incredible Edible Egg

I will admit that I am not a huge egg fan. I like eggs in things like potato salad or even a good cobb salad, and once in awhile I will take a bite or two of just a regular hard boiled egg or make some scrambled eggs for the kids, but it isn't my favorite thing so I don't make them too often.

Well, that was very evident tonight when Bump asked Corban where eggs come from. "Grandma's house," was his reply.

Wow! I'm a Mom

So, I just had one of those "Wow, I'm a Mom" moments. Tonight as I was getting Gabby ready for bed I told her to pick out a book to read and then I remembered the book that I wrote when I was in 6th grade. Things have been in storage for so long and I have finally put all the books on shelves and remembered this book. I told her that I had something special to read to her instead of one of her other books and pulled out my 6th grade masterpiece.

I explained to her that I wrote this book and drew the pictures when I was a little girl and that I was so excited to finally get to read it to her. She was thrilled and enjoyed every second of the book, "The Blanket." It starts out. . . "Once there was a little girl named Tammy. She was three years old. She had brown hair and blue eyes, and she was going to start pre-school in two days. But the only thing wrong was that Tammy couldn't let go of her blanket."

Gabby was so excited because she is 3 years old just like Tammy and she has blue eyes and brown hair. She really got into the book and liked it so much that I had to read it again and now she says she wants it read to her every night before bed. The really weird thing about this book is that I remember, so well, writing it and drawing the pictures and it doesn't seem like it was that long ago!

When you are young time seems to just drag on forever and ever. You never feel like you are going to grow up and then all of the sudden you have grown up, you are married and have 3 beautiful kids that you get to read your stories to. It's weird being a mom, suddenly one day you just realize that you are actually living the life that you had always planned on living when you someday grew up.

Today I am happy. And I am glad that I am a mom that saved my special book to share with my little girl.

I took the quiz and I am Miss Marianne Dashwood - is this a good thing??? Well, I guess I have a good singing voice!! Don't you just love Jane Austen?

You are Marianne Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! You are impulsive, romantic, impatient, and perhaps a bit too brutally honest. You enjoy romantic poetry and novels, and play the pianoforte beautifully. To boot, your singing voice is captivating. You feel deeply, and love passionately.
